See the PVD DESCRIPTION page under FINISHES for an explanation/description of the PVD process and properties.
This service is for PVD coating of your barrel which you send in. We do offer a "stainless" option which means we will remove any finish on your existing barrel and polish it as requested. We will then apply a generous coat of oil to protect the steel and ship it back to you. If your barrel is not a good quality stainless steel, it can oxidize/rust. We encourage you to refinish the barrel with one of the PVD options.
Coating a barrel begins with us giving the barrel a completely matte/non-reflective finish removing any factory/prior coating. We then can either do a surface polish of the barrel hood and barrel, OR we can leave the barrel completely matte/dull. When performing the polished option, we strive for a mirror-like finish on the right side and top of the barrel hood specifically, many manufacturers have such uneven surfaces that this is not completely possible without removing too much material from the hood. In such case you may have slight matte/non-reflective patches. If we feel the barrel will look too patchy, we will contact you prior to coating to discuss. Barrels with fluting will typically look better with a polish of the barrel itself, thus revealing a glossy barrel with matte fluting accenting it. This option does not include any machining/fluting, we are simply refinishing the barrel you send us. We will accept pretty much any semi-auto pistol barrel for this option.
